ControlPro v3.3
You can customize your Bill of Lading (BOL) to include company information and logos, or pick which information you want to be on the BOL. The BOL templates in ControlPro are .docx files and can be edited from a full version of Microsoft Word. Note: Do not use Wordpad or OpenOffice/LibreOffice to edit these files, because the formatting won’t work or the file could become corrupted.
First, we need to export the BOL template file. Go to the settings screen.
Go to the global section, then click the originators tab. Each originator has its own BOL template. Double click the originator that corresponds with the BOL template you want to edit.
Click on the ticket printing tab, then click on the load delivery tab. On the right, click on the export button.
The default export directory is the ControlPro templates directory. You can choose to export the file to any folder you want. After selecting the desired location, click save.
Open the exported file in Microsoft Word. You can add another logo, update the address and contact information, or add additional fields to display more ticket information. If you want more details on how to add your own custom information, refer to our support article called “Template Documentation for Custom Reports”. This can be used to update bill of ladings, reports, ticket summaries, etc.
When you’re done making your changes, save the file. The next step is to import the updated template into ControlPro.
Go back to the originator screen and click the import button. In the pop-up window, select the file you want to import. Once done, click save. Note: If you have more than one originator, you will need to reimport the file on the other originators. If each originator uses a unique template, you will need to export those files separately. Then make your changes, and reimport them to the correct originator.
To test the new updates to the BOL, load up a BOL from a previous load. Go to the main menu and click on the load search button.
In the load search screen, select a load, and click the view button. This will load a BOL in a PDF file so you can see your edits. Any changes you make to the BOL will retroactively update all previous BOLs in the system. Note: If updating more than one originator BOL, make sure to test each one. You can do that by selecting the originator from the drop-down menu and clicking the search button. It will filter out BOLs only for that originator.
