ControlPro v3.4
To assign or change a Bill of Lading printer, follow these instructions.
Start by clicking on the settings button on the left side of the home screen.
In the settings screen, click on the originator tab.
The originator is either an instance of ControlPro, or a third-party interface for importing and exporting tickets. The three-digit prefix on ticket numbers, loads, customers, drivers, and equipment is the originator ID where it was created. This helps group items together and let you know where the tickets came from. Depending on your environment, you may need to update multiple originators. If this applies to you, just follow these instructions for each originator.
In the originator tab, double click on the originator you want to update. Make sure you double click on the prefix column. Double-clicking the name column will place a cursor in the name and allow you to change it.
In the originator screen that opens, click on the ticket printing tab.
In the ticket printing tab, you may or may not have a BOL already set up. If the section is blank, click on the green plus sign in the ticket printing tab to assign a BOL and printer. If the section already has information displayed, you can click on the import button to update the BOL used. To add a printer, click on the green plus sign labeled “distribution and printing source”.
The system will add a listing under the BOL information to setup a printer. Click on the empty field under the printer tab, and it will display a drop-down menu. Select the printer you want to use. If you just installed a new printer, and it’s not displayed in the drop-down, restart ControlPro, then it will appear in the list. Once selected, you can set up the number of copies or paper trays if your printer supports it.
You can set up multiple printers if needed. Just add the second one the same way you added the first. This allows you to print BOLs to multiple places, such as one copy for the driver by the loadout, and one copy for the office. If you want to set up for only one originator instead of all originators, click on the “all originators” drop-down menu and select the originator you want to apply.
There is another option below the printers to add distribution and printing source overrides for systems. This allows you to set up different BOL printers for different systems within the same originator. This helps with locations who have different areas for dispensing different materials, and each area has its own printer.
Once all the settings are applied, click save. From now on, any load processed and completed in the system will generate a BOL at the printer specified.
